Join the All Pueblo Grows Seed Lending Library for their community seed gathering and educational event! Volunteers will present on a new topic every month. After the presentation help volunteers package and sort seed to go into the seed catalog. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Rawlings Hoag Library, in the Thurston room on the first floor. If you have seeds to donate, bring them along! We hope to see you there!
There is still time to do some fall gardening before temperatures get too low. Look at the days to harvest on any plant that you are looking to grow. Add about 7-10 days to that to account for seed germination and harvest. If that amount of days is before our average first frost date, you can still grow it! Some crops can take a light frost. Our average first frost in Pueblo is usually somewhere around October 15.
Some examples include: kohlrabi, radish, spinach, turnips, and parsnips. Make sure it is a cold hardy crop.
Happy Fall Gardening!
Many more seeds have been added to the catalog yesterday. Pick up some for your fall garden!
We have native flowers -false blue indigo, herbs – cilantro, dill, and seeds for fall crops of swiss chard, turnips, parsnips, lettuce, etc. and much much more.
Stop in and check it out!
Also, the next seed gathering is coming up, so if you have seeds saved, stop in and drop them off and you can stay and help package seeds.
